Meet Isabelle!
Hi! I’m Isabelle Joy Carrillo, a speech-language pathologist based in the Trenton, NJ area. My work is grounded in the belief that communication is a tool for connection and empowerment
I’ve worked with clients across the lifespan in early intervention, school settings, pediatric outpatient care, and adult inpatient rehabilitation. My areas of expertise include:
Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC)
D/deaf and Hard-of-Hearing individuals
Early Intervention and Parent Coaching
Gestalt Language Processing/Natural Language Acquisition (GLP/NLA)
Neuroaffirming Social and Pragmatic Support
I founded With Joy Speech as an extension of my commitment to community care and justice. As both a clinician and organizer, I approach speech-language pathology as a practice of empowerment - one that honors lived experience, identity, and autonomy. My work is deeply influenced by disability justice, language equity, and other social justice movements. This allows me to see an my role holistically - reminding me that communication allows an individual access to connection, advocacy, and autonomy.
In my practice, I integrate evidence-based, neuroaffirming, and trauma-informed approaches with a frame of joy and collaboration. I partner closely with families, educators, and other professionals to build confidence, consistency, and trust across all communication environments.
As a clinician and as an individual, my goal is to create inclusive spaces where all forms of communication are valued — and where every person can take pride in their own voice and tell their own story!
